Damien Guichard named first Brand Ambassador for Bar Convent Berlin
The choice was an obvious one – a bartender with deep roots in Berlin’s bar scene, someone who is an expert at his craft and well versed in premium products and hospitality, and a vocal proponent of international exchange. Damien Guichard, bar manager at the Truffle Pig since 2019, is Bar Convent Berlin’s first Brand Ambassador. Guichard (32) has made a name for himself in Berlin’s bar scene, and he has already worked behind the bar in countless top establishments. Now, in addition to his job as a bartender, he will be working as part of the BCB team.
“Having the international BCB here in our own city is really very special for us as bartenders in Berlin. The trade show brings us together with colleagues and brands from around the world, so I am particularly pleased to be able to put my stamp on this event,” says Damien. “As a BCB Brand Ambassador, I have the chance to collaborate on projects aimed at the bar community – projects that reflect the full variety of brands and products available on the global market. I would like to share my enthusiasm for the trade show with others. We need a place where we can get together and share our ideas, because we are strongest together, particularly in challenging times.”

He is more than simply an ambassador – he is also a valuable advisor and a valued new member of our team.”
This collaboration is focused on the trade show’s new concept, ‘City Life Spirits’, which delivers the urban spirit of Berlin directly into the exhibition halls. Every exhibition hall will be transformed into a hub of activity with hotspots and special shows, reflecting the trends of big-city life. Damien will also be presenting the city’s hotspots to international visitors during the run-up to the event.
One of these special locations in Berlin is Damien’s own haunt, the Truffle Pig, a place that is difficult to find for those who are not in the know. The ‘speakeasy’ bar is located in the back room of Kauz & Kiebitz, a classic corner bar in the Neukölln district of Berlin. Its recipe for success: fascinating creations, excellent hospitality and word of mouth.
Before coming to the Truffle Pig, Damien was part of the team at Berlin’s Velvet bar, which was selected as Germany's best bar in 2018. He has also practised his trade at other bars, including Beuster Bar and The Bar Marqués. Guichard, French by birth, studied translation and came to Berlin in 2012 in order to improve his German language skills. Instead he ended up following another path, one that put him behind the counter in numerous Berlin bars and made him into one of Germany's most sought-after bartenders. In 2018 he made the shortlist for ‘Newcomer of the year’ at the MIXOLOGY Bar Awards. Now, in 2020, he has been chosen as BCB’s Brand Ambassador.
