Portuguese Exhibitors at BCB 2022

Portuguese exhibitors are nothing new at BCB, but there have never been as many as this year – and with the most diverse products. We present to you a brief overview.

From Portugal to the whole World: Licor Beirão and more

The Liquid Company is responsible for the international distribution of the family-owned company "Licor Beirão". "Licor Beirão" is one of the best known and most consumed drinks in the whole country. But the liqueur, which is produced according to a secret recipe of the Redondo family, is not only popular in Portugal, but also internationally.

The Liquid Company recently expanded its portfolio and presents the summery-fresh aperitif "Per Se" at BCB, which is reminiscent of the sunsets in the south of Portugal in terms of taste as well as appearance, and the eau-de-vie-enriched liqueur "Carranca Redondo", whose bottle is inspired by a liqueur sold in the 19th century in a pharmacy in the small town of Lousã in western Portugal.

Amorim Top Series: An Experience for all Senses

Amorim Top Series is a company that manufactures capsulated cork closures for bottles. It is one of the largest companies of its kind and works with top brands in the sector. Its extensive range is divided into four segments: Classic Value, Premium, Elegance and Prestige. Sustainability is a big priority for the company: among other things, their range of products includes impeccable sustainability credentials, such as 100 per cent cork, Wood Top cork and Re-Cork corks, which offer an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic corks.

In addition, cork is an experience for all senses: lightness you can hear and feel, a fresh subtle scent and neutrality in taste. This year's BCB visitors can experience this for themselves at the Amorim Top Series booth.

Madeira Rum: Four Producers in one Pavilion

Madeira rum, with its Geographical Indication (Rum da Madeira) is obtained exclusively by the alcoholic fermentation and distillation of fresh sugar cane juice, from sugar cane produced in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and is classified as agricultural rum. Its unique characteristics and qualities are due not only to traditional production processes, but also to the experience of dedicated generations, who cherished and improved its production. During the 15th century, the Portuguese were considered the biggest sugar traders in the world, partly due to the introduction of sugar cane in Madeira island. The drink enjoyed great popularity among sailors and pirates due to its alcoholic strength and is still very popular today.

For the first time, there will be a Madeira Agricole Rum Pavilion at BCB, where four Portuguese producers will present their products to visitors. These include the brands Reizinho, William Hinton, Engenhos do Norte and VA Spirits (Vinha Alta).

Arbun Distillery: For the Good of the Forest

Arbun Distillery is participating at BCB for the first time with a new and very special drink. It produces a handcrafted gin based on Arbutus unedo – strawberry trees – that grow in the Arbun Distillery region. For their spirits, they harvest the best ripened fruits by hand on the sunny slopes of the Serra do Caldeirão.

The main goal of the company is to improve and promote sustainable forest management. The founders wanted to build a business that could potentiate the use of an endemic species, creating economic value for the region and helping preserve a very important ecosystem of the south of Portugal – the Quercus suber forest.

High-carat Appearance with Adamus Dry Gin

The company participated in BCB back in 2019 and since then the market for Adamus Dry Gin has grown unstoppably. The gin is made from 18 botanicals, with one exciting peculiarity: it is the only gin that contains the grape variety "Baga" from the Bairrada region as a botanical.

Adamus is derived from the Greek word for diamond, which is reflected both in the high-quality gin and the bottle, which is shaped like a diamond. One special feature: Each year, the company produces only a limited number of bottles.

Plastdiversity: Optimal Alternative to Glasses

The company offers a wide range of vessels and equipment for the bar made of high-quality plastic. All products can be fully customised and labelled with the name of the bar or a logo, for example. The reusable and resistant cups made of shiny material are a perfect alternative to conventional glasses and are ideal for events, bars and clubs.
